"...absolutely twangy, good
old-fashioned American Rock & Roll - a
sound that makes sense when you consider
their name, a combination of "hippy" and
"redneck." Their enthusiasm for
their craft is obvious and infectious,"

THE HIPNECKS' SUMMER BASH AT THE BLUE NOTE CONFIRMED - SINGLE RELEASE OF
MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI - & MORE NEW MUSIC!
This will be taking place on
SATURDAY JULY 24
at The Blue Note in Columbia, MO and it will be a
FREE SHOW. The Lineup for this
year will be as follows: THE HIPNECKS,
MOONRUNNER,
MAN IN THE RING,
A PERFECT
FIFTH.
We will be
releasing singles every couple months. The first of which (and
long overdue) is Mighty Mississippi, which will be available for
download at HomeToneRecords.com, on iTunes, and at CdBaby.com starting
Saturday July 24. We will continue to debut more new material
before it releases as well. The songs include Sni-A-Bar Stomp,
Svata, Trainstops & Alleyways, Stranger, and the list continues to grow!
Jeremiah
Lotven will be sitting in for Renne on Bass, as he is still in China and
will not be returning until late October - at which time I'm sure he'll
spend at least 2 weeks just eating cheeseburgers. Did you know
that they use cakes of rice instead of buns? Weird.

THIRD ALBUM UNDERWAY - SCOTT ANDERSON 'RETIRES' Yeah, that's right folks. We're
chugging along on album number three at Mansion Studio courtesy of Home
Tone Records. I hate to say it, but we will most likely put our
show plans on hold until this project is completed. Its pretty
rare for us to be churning out songs faster than they can be put to
paper, so we're gonna ride the high water out into the summer - when we
hope to have a nifty buffet of gritty new tunes for you.
It is, furthermore, with deep regret that we announce to everyone that
our long time friend and brother Scott Anderson has taken a leave of
absence from the group for personal reasons. He will be sorely
missed. He wrote great songs, sang like a lark, and had a diplomatic
personality that kept us from killing each other for years. So
who's going to sing Bartender? Scott will sing Bartender.
Every time someone plays track #10 on our first album. That's why
you make records!
What's the new one gonna sound like? We can't imagine it
without Scott any more than you guys. Furthermore, Danny Carroll (drums)
and Wes Wingate (piano/organ/vocals) weren't on the last two records.
So far, it sounds like a completely different band...and, lets be
honest...it is a different band. Currently, there are only 3 of
the original 6 members that started the band back in 2004...but it
doesn't feel foreign to me. All these changes have taken place as
subtle as each season yields to the next and I know we haven't seen the
last. So, we hope everyone can share our excitement in
anticipation of what happens next :: we make swamp nasty music.

NEW DRUMMER TO THE BAND!
We are very pleased and excited to welcome none other
than Danny Carroll from Bockman, Joe Stickley's
Blueprint, etc. as our new drummer extraordinaire!
Danny is not only clearly a master of his craft, but a
fantastic guy nonetheless and has been a dear friend of
ours for several years. We're definitely excited
about things to come and can't wait to get some new
tunes written with him at the helm!

"The Hipnecks can’t be described as
just loud – there’s a quality to their songs that keeps
the musical value of rock ‘n’ roll alive no matter how
boisterous or booming their sound. They also have
the capability to pull off more subtle pieces with same
energy that they bring to the foot-stomping pluckiness
of pure Americana. Their pieces catch on and force
you to full-on dance,"
